It also supports native Matter integration. In addition, Gen4 devices include a secondary operating mode that must be selected before pairing, allowing zigbee communication with a zigbee gateway or coordinator.Whether you use it in Wi-Fi or zigbee mode, it's well-suited for automating individual appliances or integrating into a full smart home system, such as during property renovation projects.Its compact size allows installation behind standard wall switches or inside junction boxes, even for retrofit use.Installed behind an existing wall switch, the Shelly 1PM Gen4 allows remote control of lighting and connected appliances while keeping the physical switch functional. This makes it ideal for making existing systems smart. Unlike the Mini version, its 16A max current rating makes it suitable for socket control as well.The relay includes a switch input, so the wall switch can still be used even when the device is controlled over Wi-Fi.
